At almost 200m high, they are among the tallest buildings in Hamburg and rise directly on the A7 near Altenwerder. When they were installed in 2009, the two wind turbines were the largest in the world. Not far away, the remains of old windmills can be found hidden in the landscape. What happened on the way between historic wooden construct and modern mega machine? By networking regional artists, scientists and students, the project aims to open the topic of windpower on a new, cinematic scale.

WINDPOWER - FOLLOW THE EVOLUTION OF THE WIND WHEEL
The tale of the wind wheel follows two travelers, who visit it at different times: Once a wanderer strays to its early, wooden form in the folkloric past of medieval windmills. The other time a journalist flees to it in the face of the great energy transition, when it has already grown into an electrified machine.
The starting point of the film is the appearance of a first millstone thousands of years ago and leads to the search of the highest wind turbine on earth in present times. The transformation of the wind wheel continues! It tells its story through the visit of two people.

The "Saalheimer Graupel" describes an unexplored weather phenomenon in an otherwise seemingly demystified world. While water was still assigned to mother goddesses in antiquity and later sleet processions, weather blessings and rain baptisms were celebrated, it seems nowadays you have to search for strange watering places like "Saalheim" to connect with climate and environment - this movie shows what I got to find there.

what gardens do we built, to be with ourselves?
who do we meet when nobody is there?
